Quilt In A Box:
Groups of 12 participate in this project. Each person in the group picks their own fabrics. Each month you trade boxes with others in your group and take home someone else’s box of fabrics. During the month, you make a block that is 12 ½” unfinished (machine pieced, hand pieced, paper pieced, applique, etc.). You will make the same block each month until you have made one for each member of your group. At the end of the year, a gathering is planned (if possible) and members of the group exchange the blocks they have made for each other. Each participant ends up with 12 blocks from their choice of fabric. Guild Contact: Sue Norfleet
Festival of Trees:
The Festival of Trees is a yearly fundraiser sponsored by Delaware Hospice, typically held the third week of November. A group, or business, sponsors a tree while other groups volunteer to make the decorations for a tree. At the end of the festival, the decorated trees are then donated to a charity to enjoy during the holiday season. The guild has participated in the festival by decorating a tree for many years. Challenge Blocks:
Three to four times a year a new challenge is announced for members. Sometimes it is the color that is given as the challenge; sometimes it is a specific design or shape that might be the challenge. You can purchase a 10-inch piece of the challenge fabric and then instructions and due date for the completion of the blocks will be given to you. You typically have a few months to complete your block. Then all the blocks that have been returned at the meeting they are due will be raffled off to one or more winners from those who completed a block. Guild Contact: Wendy Sadowski
Ladybug Quilting Bees:
Bees are small groups of quilters who meet regularly to share their quilting successes and problems. Some bees may become involved in special projects, trips to quilt shops / shows, or demonstrations, while others simply enjoy each other’s company while sewing. The bees give members a chance to get to know each other in a smaller group setting. To join a bee, contact the Beekeeper and she will steer you to the bee that most closely fits your schedule.
